Mary, the Mother of God

Once, while traveling throughout Central America, I came across a small wooden wall cabinet with doors.

It is a little version of life-sized stands often seen along roadsides in other countries.

It may have been in Costa Rica that it was purchased but I'm not completely sure.

More than 40 years and many moves have gone by since I bought it.

A tiny statue of the Blessed Virgin, Mary of Guadalupe, stands inside.

I keep the little grotto-type cabinet on a wall in my home office.

It's comforting for me to look at it.

The Blessed Mother has been a huge influence in my life, thanks to the faithful examples of my Mother and both Grandmothers.

The Mother of Christ is so powerful and filled with pure, never ending love.

My Mom and Grandmas are in her presence now, in the other realm of life.

It's so wonderful to feel their love in my heart at all times and I look forward to the reunion we will have one day.

In the meantime, each day, I place all my loved ones in her gentle, tender care.

DO YOU HAVE ANYTHING FUN ON THE DOCKET FOR TODAY?

I love your Mary cabinet, how good to keep it in your home office where you see it often. Years ago I sold an article on gardening and used the money to buy a 3 foot tall cement Madonna for our yard, she brings me a peaceful feeling.

I have a very similar Mary that looks just like yours. Love it. It's in my bedroom. My plans were foiled today. I was going to see the musical Cinderella but our plans were canceled at the last minute so now I'm home enjoying my kindle. Have a great day!

I am sure Jesus loved his mother Mary and vice versa. I do know it is more important in the Catholic Church then ours.

Doing a project the grandson on Dwight L. Moody - who was like me - I don't worry about denominations - just if we believe in Jesus!

That's a lovely little cabinet. And a nice keepsake from your travels. I've had a heartbreaking day and have shed lots of tears all because of a little stray cat that took a piece of my heart with her.

This wooden cabinet is so unique and wonderful, Susan. And what makes it even more special is that the doors open to beloved Mary. I was wondering, do you keep the doors open or closed most of the day? It is a gentle reminder of Mary's love each time you look at this in your office. What a treasure this is.
