Fun and Frolic at Farmers' Markets

Summer and farmers' markets go together quite perfectly.

Fresh produce sold by the people who grow it is just so luscious.

While vacationing in Colorado recently, we stopped at the cutest market ever in Cherry Creek.

Even the name of the town----Cherry Creek----is enough to make you smile, isn't it?

Are there really cherries growing near a creek there?  Hmmmm. I wonder.

Because it was mid-week, the market was on the small side but there were plenty of fresh fruits and veggies, flowers, baked goods and some non-edible items, too.

Among the jams and jellies were exotic combos like drunken fig!

I bought one plain and one almond croissant.

The woman behind the counter was from Lithuania, the home country of my paternal grandparents.

There was even music by an accordionist and guitarist.

Farmers' markets bring out the best in everything.

WHAT, IF ANYTHING, DO YOU LIKE THE MOST ABOUT FARMERS MARKETS?

Looks like great fun! I need to go check out the local farmer's market. I've lived here for 12 years and have never been to it. And I like them - I just forget about it (they're only open on Saturdays). Thanks for the inspiration! Have a great weekend!

I love markets too with all they have to offer. I smiled to see the accordion player... Reminded me of my dad :)

We have a huge, historical farmer;s market in our town which overflows with consumers on the weekend. My friend's parents (last name, Kriss) are also from Lithuania.

When I lived outside Denver, we used to go to Cherry Creek for a race they had each year and my husband would run and I would cheer. I love Farmers Markets, especially for the fresh green beans. And the people watching. Ours is a lovely one and it seems like everyone from the town attends. :) Kit

Oh, look at those Yummy pastries. I love Farmer's Markets, Susan. There's something very charming about them. And I always come home with goodies. Homegrown fruit is the best. I'd love to try some of that "drunken fig" jam, how delightful. It sounds like you had a fun day!

love, ~Sheri
