Of all the house projects completed over the past few years, installation of a backyard fountain was an all time favorite.
Many times during the warmer months in New England, I'd pull out the lounge chair and sit near it, listening peacefully to the gurgling water.
It is amazing how soothing a fountain can be.
My granddaughter loves turning her back to the fountain, making wishes and throwing coins over her shoulder.
(The little doll baby learned that from her Grammie. ha ha.)
In just a few short weeks, hubs will wrap up the fountain for the winter.
It will look like a big, monstrous creature, encased in black plastic and the carefree days of spring, summer and autumn will be part of the past.
If you ever have the opportunity to add a fountain to your backyard, do it.
You will never, ever regret it.
If interested in seeing the original installation of the brick semi-circle beneath the fountain, go here.
Now, let's hum a verse or two of "Three Coins in a Fountain," just for old times' sake.
WHERE WAS THE PRETTIEST FOUNTAIN YOU'VE EVER SEEN?

You know I have been to Italy twice and have thrown coins in that fountain so I am going for that one. I like yours too. I have a sound machine that makes sound like a fountain and I love it - it is peaceful.
HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU!

We have a lovely fountain in our Hyde Park, great to sit by on a hot summers day.

I love fountains! My parents had one many years ago and my Sara loved it so much!! I wish I had one now.
The Trevi Fountain in Rome , Italy. I threw coins in it too. They used that one in the movie "Three Coins in a Fountain". I like the song too.
We have a lion fountain but it is not hooked up to water now (sad). We saw many beautiful fountains in Paris, and at Versailles.
I love the sound of a fountain. Your's is beautiful. xo Laura
Flowing water inspires me to write and think. I know how you love your fountain. Summer is hanging on here, and it looks like it's not saying "Uncle' to fall. Have a great week.
I've been running my fountain every morning on the deck that I can. I know the days are numbered. I enjoy my fountain so much!
How sweet that your granddaughter makes wishes at the fountain. I bet it will be hard to see it packed away for the season. I am wondering what happens if you leave it out during Fall and Winter? Such a pretty fountain, Susan.
