One sad aspect of the warmer weather ending is that it's also pretty much the end of yard sale season.
It's kind of futile to think of trudging through ice and snow to get to someone's throwaway treasures.
Going to yard sales is definitely fair weather fun.
In recent years, going to estate sales has been more lucrative.
Usually at an estate sale, the owners of "stuff" have either passed or moved away and family members want to liquidate the contents of a home. Fast!
Merchandise is often of better quality than a yard sale and there are lot of bargains to be found amid the higher priced items.
One can often find children's books at yard sales at dirt dog cheap prices.
I'm a huge advocate of reading to children and have a very large collection of books for kids (not to mention hundreds of books for big people, too.)
However, the few attended were very good and the children's section of the home library now has numerous Halloween and Christmas selections.
Note to Western Massachusetts readers. Some of the items shown in this particular yard sale are still for sale. For more information, shoot me an email! I know where the owner resides.
DO YOU ENJOY GOING TO YARD SALES? IF YES, WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT THEM? ALSO, HAVE YOU EVER HAD ONE?

For some reason, I am seeing more yard sales around here right now - maybe it's the cooler weather. My sister first introduced me to yard sales many years ago, and ever since then, I became hooked haha. This yard sale you went to looks like it has a lot of goodies. I hope you found something delightful to take home.

I like yard sales - but I am kind of shy going to them. I don't know what to say to the people exactly - lol. That looked like a really big and nice one there. It is not what they look like here exactly. I do go to thrift stores too. Love, sandie
I don't go to yard sales any more Susan.
I loved going to them.... we call them Gar
age sales in Australia... and I was quite addicted to them and to Charity shop hunting.....
I over stuffed my house through the years.. took me over a year to de-clutter it... and I don't want to go there again....
.... but it's constant a battle not to 'collect' ...

I'm trying to get rid of stuff not buy more. I have never had a yard sale and haven't been to one in at least twenty years...nor do I shop at thrift stores..nor do I shop period unless I'm looking for something special. As far as children's books go I saved many from my own children's library and bought many during my many years of teaching so I have a big bookcase of those. Are you happy that it is getting cooler there now? I bet you are.
In poland we don.t have yard sale and in europe is not very popular one
I love love yard sales!!! I find so many treasures and so cheaply. I keep my purchases at a limit since I just purged my house. It really has to speak to me. Yes, I used to have sales when my girls were younger, but now I donate to Goodwill. Kit
I always loved sales but really I don't need a THING ONE anymore. Still I sometimes stop, but if you look you find! The house is full and I have been working on deleting some things.
I'm an advocate for secondhand stuff. Always nice to browse ... you never know what little treasures you might find.
