A Day for All Mothers

                                                                                                       (My late Mother, Barbara)

A blessed Mother's Day to all my female blog friends.

May your day be filled with all good things.

And now for today's Mother's Day post:

A mother's love goes on forever.

Even after she's gone from this earth, her presence and influence continue.

My mother, Barbara. had a kind and gentle heart.

She was also very humble.

All of the photos in this post are of my Mother. How I loved her!

She was generous to a fault.

She'd never dream of buying something just for herself.

Others, especially her five daughters, always came first.

My mother has been gone for 11 years but she has come into my mind a million times or more since then.

Her impact  and influence on my life have been profound.

I think of her when I see gardenias or rhubarb pie, cemeteries,  a sparkling clean house, books, music, and Snicker bars.  She loved all those things.

Most of all, she had deep, abiding faith in Almighty God and the blessed Mother.

No doubt Mumsie is still praying the rosary in heaven.

Today, Mother's Day, I will think of her even more than usual and all the sacrifices she made and love she gave during the course of a lifetime.

(Thanks for everything, Mumsie.  I sure miss you.)

WHAT IS ONE LESSON YOU LEARNED FROM YOUR MOTHER?

Those are wonderful photos ... your mama was so beautiful. My mom is very frugal. She never worked when she was married to my father and when he left her for another woman, she went to college, got a degree in history and then did substitute teaching for years. The money she saved and a bit of social security is what she lives on now. When I try to give her money, she says she doesn't need it and that when she does, she will let me know. Living a minimalist lifestyle is all the rage now but my mom is not doing it as a fad, she is doing it out of necessity. We truly do not need much to live a comfortable life. Happy mother's day!

Boy I see a resemblance - she was beautiful and acted so. I have to say I learned strength from my mother - she hand;ed a lot of difficult things with grace in her life, I miss her and think about her all the time too.

HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY TO YOU! sandie

Oh I loved this post Susan. I have not seen some of those pictures ever so it was wonderful to view them. I got religion, music, and so many other things from Mom . I put my children first like she did and I learned to be thrifty and have a savings account. She is always on my mind. Happy Mother's Day Mommy. May God grant you peace and happiness in heaven.

... beautiful post Susan ....
My Mum is still with us. We are lucky to have her this long, she is over 100 years old and lives with me .... she is slowly becoming more frail and vague. Mum still showers and dresses herself and gets her own breakfast....
Mum's philosophy is ....Take every day as it comes and make the most of it ..............
I have learnt that I'm stronger than I thought I was .. xxxxxxx

These pictures of your mother are treasures, Susan. How very special that she prayed the rosary. I love that last picture of her in the yellow flowered dress. What a wonderful mom you had, and I love the fact that she was humble. : )

Such a lovely tribute to your mom. She was so beautiful and I see a resemblance to you as well. I lost my dad about the same time you lost your mom yet it doesn't seem that long ago.
