It has been reported that lemon grass deters mosquitoes from buzzing around.
There's nothing more irritating that having mosquitoes whine in one's ear on a warm summer evening.
At a stop at the Williamsburg, Massachusetts General Store last week, several herbs were for sale out front and among them were containers of lemon grass!
Yippah!
I snatched a couple of them, paid for them, and have them on a kitchen window sill, along with a mint plant.
Let's hope the purpose for which they were purchased works!
Will let you know this coming summer!
HAVE YOU EVER GROWN LEMON GRASS?

I have never grown the grass, but I have bought it from Vietnamese for cooking and making tea. I never had much luck with it though as I did not stick with trying. I also love to grow mint though...so easy, almost a pest. I love the smell although I don't cook with it like I should. Do you grow chocolate mint?
I haven't grown lemon grass but I might have to look for some. Mosquitoes are the worst for me!
I have never grown either - and I don't have too many mosquito problems - not sure why not. Think I will go get some flowers to put out front tomorrow tho.Good luck! sandie
I've had lemon grass in Chinese food and love the flavor. I do not grow plants in my kitchen but my daughter does. Enjoy these new ones you've purchased.
... your Lemon grass and mint look great on the window sill ...
I've only bought Lemon Grass at the supermarket to use in cooking...

I heard marigolds also keep pests away. Mother Nature knows her stuff.
I have heard of lemongrass in soup but never have grown it. Looks like a nice compliment to your windowsill.
The plants on your window sill look inviting. I hadn't heard that about lemongrass, but I hope it works!
