Little Things Make Big Decorating Impact

Decorating with objects we love helps make living spaces special.

All photos in today's post are from the Penrose Victorian Inn in western Massachusetts.

There are flowers everywhere at the Penrose which is decorated tastefully and reminiscent of the Victorian era.

Shown above are faux flower bouquets in front of one of the inn's charming fireplaces.

Below are flowers in a cranberry vase on a dresser top:

Whether it's a house, apartment, mobile home, townhouse, condo, or even an inn, we make it our own environment by personalizing with favorite objects.

Here is a welcome sign at the Penrose Victorian Inn:

Innkeepers Nancy and Dick Zimmer graciously share their lovely inn with guests.

Everywhere one looks at the Penrose, there is something on which to feast one's eyes.

From the smallest figurine to the big, comfy beds, covered with Amish quilts, the Penrose is a showpiece of loveliness.

If you missed previous blog posts on different aspects of the Penrose Victorian Inn, and are interested in seeing them, you can  find them here, here, and here!

  1. Everything was precious. Love the cranberry glass. Those plates over the doorway - interesting - and did you see the ceiling? Love the two figurines kissing each other. And those shoes - can you imagine wearing them? Love, sandie

  4. Lovely pictures of a lovely place that I'm sure you appreciated so much since you love Victorian décor. I'm not a decorator.

  5. What an especially lovely place! Looks to me "right up your alley"!
I personally don't incorporate as many frills in my "decorating". (Actually, don't consider myself much of a decorator.) More wooden boxes, wooden bowls, etc.

  6. When I married, Primitive was the in thing. It is still one of my favorites to see, but it isn't always the most comfortable décor and furniture. I am not the overstuffed or Mission Style that is popular right now.
