"Rumpelstiltskin" is a story as old as time.
Most children hear it told to them long before they reach their teen years.
What fun it is to go to a puppet show and see a childhood favorite story enacted.
We did just that this summer vacation.
The little ones in tow totally enjoyed the antics of the Robbins-Zust Family Marionettes.
They presented Rumpelstiltskin in the western Massachusetts town of Stockbridge.
The town, quintessential New England, is well known as the late famous artist, Norman Rockwell lived and painted there.
A son of the Robbins-Zust family, Dion, dramatically engaged the young audience in the story of Rumpelstiltskin.
There were a few adaptations to the well known story of the girl whose father lied to the king about his daughter being able to spin straw into gold.
The best part of the old stories is that they almost always have a powerful message.
In Rumpelstiltskin, it's tell the truth rather than lie!

We also attended a puppet performance of "The Lion's Whiskers" by an entirely different company.

I saw a terrific puppet show of Snow White when I was in Germany a long time ago. I haven't seen too many puppet shows here where I live though. So glad you took your grandkids to see it. I always loved that story.
Dion looks like he belongs in the story!

What a delightful puppet show, Susan. I'm glad you got to experience that and see the happy faces on the young audience. I'm not sure I've ever seen a live puppet show before, now I'm intrigued. The little dolls and their costumes are enchanting.

what a delightful form of entertainment. i think i too would enjoy a show from a marionette company. how lucky for the little ones that they got too.
That was so cool - I remember taking Andy when he was younger - I loved them. sandie
Such fun. we used to have a marionette maker and performer in our town. Little ones just loved it as much as the older ones.
