Tulips

Songs from childhood stay with us forever.

One I clearly remember singing was about tulips, one of spring's gifts to us.

It might have been a Girls' Scouts song but I really don't know since I was never a scout.

But the tune and words to it are embedded in my mind and heart.

This is how it went:

"Here, look in my garden bed —
Something beautiful is growing!
Bright shaped like a cup of red
Tulips open to the sun!
Last night it was small and green,
Flame-like now it is a-growing,
This one is the first I’ve seen,
Now sweet weather has begun!"

Tulips are harbingers of spring.

I love their perky bright or pastel colored cups!

My cousin, Marianne, had some tulips in a vase on a table in her den when we had tea last week.

They are shown in today's photos.

They were so pretty and were a gift to her from one of her sons.

Good thing no tulips are growing yet in the front yard round garden because a nor'easter is headed this way starting tomorrow through the weekend.

Oh brother, more snow so no yippah is coming from here----only dreams of tulips-to-come.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COLOR TULIP?

I would have to say that tulips are one of my favorite flowers and I haven't seen a color I don't like!

Oh tulips are my daughter in laws favorite flower . I saw so many of them when I visited in Holland. The tulip gardens there were magical. I love all colors of tulips but I think the pink ones are the prettiest. The only thing about them is they do not smell like other flowers do.

I like all colors of Tulips, but when I see a bright red tulip, it really gets to me. Your cousin's tulips are pretty, and I'm noticing her red doily they're sitting on. Doilies are sweet to me. : )
