Lace and Roses

Do you ever wonder if you should have been born in a different time period?

For me, it borders on Victorian.

Lace and roses appeal to me as well as using real china dishes,  really pretty glassware as opposed to plastic, and tablecloths.

A friend gave me a fireplace runner that is just absolutely stunning and, guess what?  It's a perfect example of lace and roses.

It fits in nicely with our overhead old-fashioned lamp with crystal  prisms.

After Christmas, I kept a golden angel on the fireplace mantel instead of packing him or her away with all the holiday goodies.

At night, it's nice to sit in the living room, light some votive candles set in pink holders on top of the fireplace mantel, and relax.

So many items in our house have come from thrift stores and yard sales that it's not funny.

The best thing is, a casual observer cannot tell that most items in the decor have been thrifted, since I try hard to make sure they are nicely displayed.

IF YOU COULD HAVE BEEN BORN INTO ANOTHER TIME PERIOD, WHAT WOULD IT BE?

I would be happy in Victorian times but would want a maid and a housekeeper to do all the work.

I knew you would be in the Victorian age. And I would like to go back too - but just to visit - not stay.

I've always been fascinated with the civil war period. I love the hoop skirts..wouldn't want all the work that went with it though. Love your Victorian décor...great job as usual.

Very pretty! I'd not thought of using a runner on the mantel. May have to try it for our fireplace. Have a lovely rest of the week! :)

Your fireplace runner IS displayed nicely on the fireplace, Susan. I automatically noticed the roses on it. And that little gold angel adds something special to your fireplace.

For me, I love the pioneer days, where the women cooked everything from scratch, tended to the hens to get their eggs, one general store in town where everyone knew everyone. These were such sturdy women who took on their struggles with a good spirit. I admire them so much.

I appreciate the Victorian era too, with all its charming home décor and pretty tea cups.

love, ~Sheri
