Mother's Day Blessings

Happy Mother's Day to mothers, foster mothers, step-mothers, grandmothers, aunties, and mother-figures everywhere.

You are special and you are loved! Hope you have a wonderful day.

It's hard to imagine what life would have been like without a mother.

My heart always broke for others who lost their Moms through death.

My own mother, who I called "Mummy" or "Mumsie,"  lived until 91 years of age.

Even as cancer wreaked havoc in her body, she still wanted to live.

I remember her saying, "If only I had one more year..."

My mother taught me so many things.   Even though there was never much money, her gifts were priceless.

For example, she loved to read and instilled that gift in all of her five daughters.

My love of reading helped contribute to my becoming a journalist. Writing has been an intrinsic part of my life.

Music was important to her, too. We all had music lessons of one kind or another and we always harmonized when we sang.

Mummy played a mean piano herself.

Her faith was simple and life-long. She gave us all that incredible gift to help us get through life.

She was devoted to the Blessed Mother.

She was honest to a "t" and always tried to do the right thing.

She loved sending and receiving greeting cards and also kept many scrapbooks and  photo albums.

Most of all, she loved us with all her heart and wanted the best for us. What a gift that was!

It's been 13 years since she died and I still miss her every day of my life.

WHAT WAS AN IMPORTANT LESSON YOU LEARNED FROM YOUR OWN MOTHER?

It sounds like you had a wonderful Mother, Susan. And she raised a wonderful daughter. : )

Happy Mother's Day!

love, ~Sheri

*my mom was a special woman. Was always there when someone needed anything. She was steady and calm when unexpected things happened and handled them well. I miss my mom also, Susan, but they are always in our hearts. : )

Mom was wonderful and I miss her too . You gave a nice tribute to her. I miss her each and every day. She gave me a love of music , religion, Mary the Mother of God and many more things. I'm sure she is watching over us from heaven today and always.

It's a wonderful thing to cherish one's mother and have such fond memories. I love that your mom kept scrapbooks. What a treasure those would be to go through. Yesterday was going through old photos of my kids when they were little, which wasn't so very long ago, yet it always makes me feel nostalgic. I'm sorry that your mom suffered from cancer but it's a testament to how much she loved life that she wanted to keep on living. Have a good week!

My mom taught me to say what I think! We both could be considered “blunt”, to keep an uncluttered home, and to be responsible in my committments!
