The Birdie Is Singing Again

This is a tale of two red birds who sing and move their heads at Christmas time.

There is a little pine cone between them.

One day, after a visit from a little four-year-old, one of the birdie's heads no longer moved side to side nor did his small beak open and shut anymore.

I asked young  visitor if he had touched the birdie's head and he said he had.

He wanted to get the head closer to the pine cone, in order for the bird to eat it.

His intention was pure and the fact he disabled the birdie just about broke his heart.

Thanks to hub's incredible ability to fix just about anything,  he restored movement and tweeting to the birdie. Hurray!

Soon the birdies will be wrapped up and put away until next Christmas when they can sing and tweet to their hearts' content.

DO YOU EVER STOP TO WONDER ABOUT NEXT CHRISTMAS?

So sweet and innocent. Of course that little birdie would want to be closer to the pinecone. :) Three cheers for a handyman hubby! Happy new year!

I think the young visitor showed intelligence about the needs of the bird and empathy for the sorrow you might feel for a broken ornament. Two qualities we all need to have.

We don't decorate for Christmas anymore. It has become a real chore physically. I'm rather glad to see it pass. I like seeing the city streets lit up at this time and I sing the familiar carols.

How wonderfully honest your little one was - and so glad hubs was able to fix it.
I think a little about next Christmas - like if I should have it at my house - or what, but not a whole lot about it.
The day is enough at times to think about.

No I do not think about next Christmas. I just take one day at a time at my age. Glad your husband fixed the little birdie...it's very cute and I'm sure your four year old was sad he broke it ...now he can be happy again.

Oh, I hope you told the little one that the birdie moves and tweets again. Bless him for trying to get the head closer so the bird could eat. Children are precious, and what they do, they do out of love. Your husband sure sounds like a handyman, and wonderful that he was able to fix it.

Have a lovely weekend, Susan. It sounds like you are putting away the Christmas treasures til next year.
