Memorial Day Memories
Memorial Day is a rather solemn holiday because it honors all the American soldiers who lost their lives in the fight for freedom.
To each of them, here is a resounding "THANK YOU."
It's also a holiday that's usually filled with barbecues, trips to the beach, and lots of partying but not so much this year.
Even the usually lively neighborhood is fairly quiet today.
This is a changed Memorial Day because of COVID-19 and all the havoc and deaths it has caused.
Still, as we eat hamburgers or steaks and nibble on potato salads and chips, let's pause to think of why this holiday exists.
May better times be coming for our country and for countries throughout the world.
God bless America and all our neighbors in countries everywhere.
