The Privilege of Voting

For 11 years, since this blog began, there have been very few posts pertaining to politics.

I have always wanted this blog to be a happy place----upbeat----optimistic.

So today's post is a bit off from the usual discussion of home decorating, excursions, or hobbies.

It has to do with voting.

Today, I voted.

Where I live, City Hall is still closed but behind the building is a black box where people can deposit their "mail-in" ballots.

Because of all the hoopla about the United States Postal Service, I decided it was safer to deposit the  ballot in the box rather than the mailbox.

Anyone who wants to see change in this country had better vote since every vote truly does count.

The next big election, in November, may well be a chance to cast one's vote for continued Democracy in this country.

Even though today's vote is for a primary election,, it felt good to pull the handle on that black box and  deposit my ballot.

In three months, it will feel even better!

Yes! Voting is essential for the preservation of our democracy! Haven’t missed voting a single time since I became of voting age. At that time, it was 21!

We're watching from Canada with prayers in our heart for better days ahead for all Americans. So glad to hear you had a chance to place your vote today, Susan.

I have voted by mail the last six elections when I retired. It suits me fine and I'll be doing the same come Nov. 11. Glad you got to vote in your primary today. We already had that in June in my state.

After all that's happened, particularly in this very screwed up year, we really, really need decency and diplomacy to lead us into 2021.

Voting is our super power. I never understand why anyone would not use that power. I always vote and will be voting absentee this November. In Georgia every voter can vote that way. xo Laura
