Treasures Can Be Lurking in Thrift Shops and at Yard Sales

Anyone who frequents yard sales or thrift shops knows that part of the joy is the thrill of the hunt.

One simply never knows what gems will be found.

The pandemic has put a huge kabosh on such shopping but, little by little, with mask-wearing and social distancing in order, thrift shops are starting to open again.

Checking recently in the classified section of the newspaper, it was  thrilling to see a few treasured yard sales advertised.

For the uninitiated, there is no reason to remind a thrift and yard sale shopper that she needs nothing.

We don't always do it because we need something.

We do it because we are (addicted), uh, because it's fun.

Just look at the drop dead gorgeous candy dish, with the fancy top, shown in this post.

I snagged at a yardie this past weekend for five bucks. Score.

Also got a lovely white linen-scented candle and a handful of floating candles as well.

Will save a few other items to show you another day.

DO YOU LOVE THE THRILL OF THE HUNT?

What great finds! I love the thrill of the hunt. You never know what you will find. There is a great thrift shop in Ann Arbor. It's huge with tons to stuff coming in every day. In fact, I'm headed there today!

Thrift stores here are still closed but I do not shop in them. Your items that you got will bring you joy so good for you.

How lucky to find such neat items! I miss being able to browse around through my favorite spots. Though they are opened, and others are shopping, I am not quite ready to join the public yet.

You know I want to get into thrifting and I have to be honest - I just don't have the time. Do you go to businesses or people's yard sales?

What a lovely cut glass candy dish. I don't go often to the thrift store, but there is something about looking for the bargain that you just have to have because it's perfect.

Now my question is, do you keep candy in that dish? I imagine hard rock candies in it, and it has a wide enough bowl so that there'd be a variety of flavours from which to choose.

Wishing you a beautiful day,
Brenda xo

Susan, you find the most lovely treasures on your thrift store and garage sale outings. The glass candy dish is pretty, and I like the candle too. We can't have too many candles, can we? I had a power shortage last weekend, and I was sure glad I was stocked up on candles. : )

You find the most amazing treasures. I love both thrift stores and yard sales. I have downsized over the last few years but I do enjoy finding a well worn cookbook, with maybe some treasured recipes handwritten or cut out of a newspaper tucked among the pages.
