Labor Day Thoughts

Labor Day is a holiday most Americans think little about.

Oh yes, it means a day off from work for many.

So that gives extra time to work around the yard or inside the house.

However, hundreds of people worked hard to make this holiday a reality.

Children used to work long hours at jobs in the United States.

Adult workers, too, labored in horrible conditions in sweat shops and factories.

Many died as a result.

Those who fought for better working conditions are the ones to be thinking of today.

Things are by no means perfect in the workplace but, because of those who fought, conditions are better than before.

DO YOU CELEBRATE LABOR DAY?

I would imagine that there's a lot of people who don't even know the history of the holiday. There are workers still striking for better conditions even today. Companies need to start spreading the wealth to the people who actually do the work instead of always giving it to the people at the top.

In honor of all those who worked hard for those who came after, I salute hard workers everywhere.
