The Last Flowers of Summer

(This little bunbun greets guests as they enter Christina's house.)

Regular readers of Writing Straight from the Heart might remember past posts about a very dear friend, Christina.

She is a multi-talented artist, gardener, gourmet cook, and interior decorator, and that's just for starters!

The little bird, shown below, awaited a guest. She sat on the dinner plate.

 Oh!  She has a boyfriend!

Visits to her charming house (I call it the enchanted gingerbread cottage) are always wonderful fun.

Christina is just great company and she always makes me laugh.

We had homemade vegetable pie for lunch, shown below. It is like a crustless quiche.

Plus, visits there always result in at least two good blog posts!

Here's some cucumber salad with dressing:

Today, I'm showing you a recent lunch at her house.

Heeeeeeere's dessert!   Strawberry/rhubarb pie and ice cream!

We drank seltzer water on ice with a splash of cranberry juice.

Plus, she gave me presents because this is my birthday month! I got earrings in my favorite color, pink, and a humorous Halloween plaque.

Christina's creative and fun-loving.

WHAT QUALITIES DO YOU CHERISH IN A FRIEND?

Oh, the plate setting with the bird is delightful. Her house sounds so charming. The vegetable pie looks delicious, and it does look like a quiche. The rhubarb pie looks so Yummy. What a thoughtful gift of pink earrings and a Halloween plaque. It's nice to have a friend so close that you can chat with and have a nice meal together, Susan. Everything looks so nice.

I love to have a friend that like you I've know for years. We have things in common and always enjoy laughing together, going to concerts and movies and just enjoy each other's company. I think your visit to Christina's house must have brought you great job.
