Morning Routine

These very chilly fall mornings, it's hard to get out from under warm covers and flannel sheets to start the day.

However, once out and about, each morning takes on a familiar routine.

There's a very comfortable lift chair that was given to us that  has the wherewithal to raise up the person in it as well as lift out!

Unfortunately, the dark grayish color is dreadful and upholstering the chair is out of the question due to high cost.

So, it remains upstairs, hidden in the master bedroom.

Nearby is a reading lamp with an old-fashioned shade that I love.  Found it years ago in a Salvation Army Thrift Store.

Each day, two readings are a must to give me strength and fortitude for the day ahead. I also pray for the person who gave me one of the books.

One of the views from the breakfast table is the window shown at the top of the post.

Here's the pretty crystal  "cheese" cover that now holds butter for morning toast. It was another thrifted item.

WHAT HELPS YOU START THE DAY IN A POSITIVE STATE OF MIND?

Morning rituals certainly help to start the day on a positive note. For me, the smell of coffee any morning perks me right up. :)

I read and loved Jesus Calling some years ago, it was a mainstay read for a long time, but I haven't read recently. I'm glad you are enjoying her books.

It's dull and overcast here this morning and temperatures cool but not below freezing, we take that as a bonus on this November morning in these parts.

Sending heart hugs, Susan, and wishes for a pleasant day.

I usually start my weekdays with a swim at the local pool outside and then come home and have breakfast and attend morning Mass online. On the weekends I love to sleep in and make blueberry pancakes.

Although we are retired, and there is nothing (most of the time) demanding us to be ready to “meet the world,” it is a huge help in attitude to take a shower and dress as though there is something to do or somewhere to go. Making the bed is a helpful habit! There is that time for devotions that comes next. That always includes the UMW Prayer Calendar and The Upper Room. Currently, a third addition is reading some of John Wesley’s writings. We never skip breakfast! Sending you special hugs, Susan

The cat wakes me at 5:00 a.m. begging for breakfast, and then it's a cup of coffee and a cookie for me as I sit in the dark livingroom and pray for so many in need. I am sick of watching the morning news because it is also yesterday's news. Hope you have a wonderful weekend.

Your morning routine is very nice, Susan. I love your little window looking outside. That's about the size of my kitchen window, but I can see so many wonderful things going on in the neighborhood. How special that you read two verses from your books every morning to start the day. That old chair does look comfy, but I understand the expense of upholstering it. You have such a charming home, Susan, and I really love seeing all your treasures. You have that special touch, and anywhere you live your home would say "welcome."
