Bed and Chairside Reading

A lifelong trait of mine is to read before bed.

And before going downstairs for coffee.

And anytime in between.

 Here's the glitch.

Any table near the bed or bedroom chair gets covered with books after a very short time.

It's like the books grow and expand overnight.

Reading is good and can be a powerful influence in our lives.

The lamp used for reading,  near the bedroom chair, makes me smile.

Like me, it's very old-fashioned.

I purchased it many years ago when we still had a Salvation Army thrift store in town.  It's long-gone now.

But the lampshade has remained and goes perfectly on a yard sale standing lamp that, luckily, has a glass, round table attached, for books, of course!

Ahhhhhh, books. They are sweet friends and to part with them is like chopping off an arm.

DO YOU COLLECT BOOKS?

Most books in my bookcase are now gone and only my photo albums are in their place. I just read in my kindle. I like how I can adjust the print and how it lights up in the dark at night all by itself and I don't even need a lamp to read by.

I love your lamp, Susan. It's so charming. And I love that you read so much. My eyes don't do the same with reading books, so I just read beautiful blogs, such as yours.

That is such a sweet lamp. So quaint and cute. I am an avid reader but am deciding what I want to read next. A friend recommend an old school writer, Elizabeth Cadell. Some of her books are hard to find but I have the style she writes in. Have a great week Susan. Thanks for sharing.

Nice lamp stand. I read a bunch of books in January, but only 2 in February. Hopefully I'll read more in March. There's not a room without books here, even the bathroom.
