A friend gave me one of those reclining chairs that, with the press of a button, lift the feet up and let the back of the chair recline.
Although the color of the chair is really ugly, a murky green, I love sitting in it to read.
Every morning, before going downstairs to make coffee and have breakfast, I sit in the chair and do four short readings.
This is a really great way to start the day.
A fellow blogger gave me the "Jesus Calling" book as a gift. Before I read it daily, I say a little prayer that she is blessed.
Book Number 2, "Jesus Today," is written by Sarah Young, the same author of "Jesus Calling."
The late Norman Vincent Peale is the author of the indomitable "The Power of Positive Thinking."
That's a book that had a profound influence in my life and will stay in my personal library until I die.
Peale also wrote "Positive Thinking for Every Day of the Year" and that's the third reading done daily.
Here's the reading from that book for Thursday of this week:
Fourth and final reading is from "The Life Recovery Bible."
I prefer to read from Proverbs and the Psalms but am also trying to read at least a random paragraph from the Old Testament, too.
This is a perfect Bible for anyone involved in Twelve Step programs for addictions.
Just wanted to share one small way to start the day positively and help you keep that mindset until it's time to go to sleep.
DO YOU HAVE ANY DAILY RITUALS THAT HELP YOU?

That's so good of you to have your daily readings, Susan. Even though your chair is not the best color, it sounds like it is a comfy chair to sit in and relax and think and pray. These sound like good books to read. I just said The Rosary, and that brings me peace each day. My blog friend, sent me one with red roses and white pearls, and I have been using that.
This is a lovely post, dear Susan.

I go to morning Mass online with my church each and every morning during the week. It's a great way to start the day.
I say my rosary too at the beginning and end of each day. Each of us has our own way of praying and I know God hears us.
I enjoy the early morning right before dawn when the horizon turns orange and the sky lightens. It is a promise of hope, a time for me to sit quietly and pray and be grateful.
