The Lion and the Lamb

Each Sunday during the Christmas holidays, it's fun to attend services at different churches to see the decor and hear the different kinds of music played.

One church recently attended in western Massachusetts had the most utterly adorable stuffed lion I had ever seen.

Nearby was a wooly lamb.

These figures lay at the base of a huge church advent wreath.

All through the service, it was hard  to keep from wishing how fun it would be to pick up that lion and give it a huge hug.

One symbolic Christian reference  to the lion and the lamb. from the Internet, is that "As the Lamb, Christ was slain, but as the Lion, Christ conquered."

There are many Biblical references to the Lion and the Lamb, as well.

Oh, that lion and lamb are wonderful. What a sight it must have been to see them sitting next to the alter at church. That blue throw they are laying on is beautiful. I can see you wanted to give that lion a big hug, Susan. You know, lions used to be my favorite animal at one time. I was fascinated with them. ; )
