Miniature Everything....

A lifelong love of all things miniature gets an extra boost on a visit to the Colorado Model Railroad Museum in Greeley.

The museum's website states that "a visit to the museum is the kind of experience where you leave your age at the door."

Anyplace where one can leave their age at the door is a winner!

Once inside, the magic begins.

Miniature trains whiz along dozens of track, covering 5,500 square feet.

They travel through countryside scenes so real one feels like having entered the land of Lilliput.

In one scene, a small flock of chickens moves up and down while clucking.

Each chick is smaller than just a section of one's baby finger nail.

Founded by Dave Trussell, the museum took five years to develop.

A total of 289,000 volunteer hours went into developing it, according to the website. Now that is a LOT of hours!

There are 14,000 tiny trees, like evergreens, are spread throughout the jaw-dropping exhibit.

Forest and firecracker business fires and a detailed circus are among the exhibits but there will be separate blog posts detailing them.

So, if you love railroads and miniatures, come back another day!

What a neat museum. I'm sure you loved looking at all the miniatures, as you love doll houses. The railroad exhibit sounds interesting. My grandfather worked on the railroad, so I have a special place in my heart for trains. There's so much detail that goes into these miniature items. The town is so charming. Thanks for sharing, Susan.
