The Tree That Almost "Wasn't"

Thoughts of when to dismantle this year's Christmas tree are definitely coming into mind these last days of 2024.

How the tree came to be is a wonderful story.

Because my apartment is very small, it was with sadness that my daughter was informed there would be no tree this year.

For several days before the Christmas holidays actually began, I traveled out-of-state to spend precious time with my son, daughter-in-law, and two grands.

While there, my daughter kept sending photos of trees she saw online.

None got my interest because it seemed impossible to stuff a tree into the apartment.

However, the photo she sent of a pink one definitely appealed but she was assured the tree was too big for my space.

Upon my return home, late at night, my son-in-law graciously picked me up from the airport.

When we arrived at my apartment, he opened the door and switched on a light.

Standing in the doorway, it was absolutely shocking to look in and see a pink tree, completely decorated, in a section of the apartment living room.

My daughter had purchased it and she, my son-in-law, and three grands had spent an afternoon decorating it with primarily gold and pink ornaments unearthed from plastic tubs in a rented storage unit!

Every day this entire season, the lighted pink tree has brought immense joy.

There could not have been a better Christmas present, prepared with so much love!

WHAT WAS ONE OF YOUR FAVORITE CHRISTMAS GIFTS THIS YEAR?

Really sweet and thoughtful of your daughter and her family. There's always the just right space and a tree to put in its place. It's really lovely.

This tree is beautiful, and what a thoughtful gift of getting the tree, decorating it, and bringing it to your home, Susan. The pink and gold is perfect for you. It is complete with decorations, and it looks so pretty all lit up. I hope the new year brings much goodness to your life, Susan. This tree was a start to that goodness.

Perfect color tree for you. That was a blessing. My son gave me a tree too and it’s the most beautiful one I’ve ever had. We are so lucky to have such thoughtful adult children.
