The new month has started out with a special surprise.
A gorgeous pink supertunia plant that hangs outside the apartment has visitors.
Actually, they are kind of renters!
Yup. Birds seem to be building a nest inside the plant.
The plant is very hard for me to water because it's up too high.
I've been tossing in plastic water bottles filled with tap water and just leaving them in the plant until they can be retrieved empty.
Does anyone have suggestions of how to water a plant that hangs so high?
Anyway, every time my car swings in front of the apartment, birds have been flying out of the supertunia.
I think they have built a nest in there, nestled in the beautiful pink blossoms !
I have no idea what kind of birds they are or if there is a nest already filled with eggs or what.
There is no possible way to look into the plant to see.
However, if there are eventually baby birds in the middle of the plant, they stand the chance of getting a shower when it's time to water the supertunia.
The supertunia got trimmed the other day and I stuffed the blossom-covered vines in a vase and put it in the bathroom.
Those blooms have lasting power and look so perky and pretty! I'm grateful for such generous flowers.
HAVE YOU EVER HAD BIRDS BUILD A NEST IN YOUR FLOWERS?

That’s the thing with hanging plants - so hard to water unless you stand on a stool which for some of us, isn’t a good idea. I remember seeing a Retractable Plant Hanger, a Pulley for Hanging Plants. I saw them on Amazon
Just use a big squirt gun with a stream setting, the Dollar Tree always has those cheap.
Good idea, Anonymous. I'll check out that great suggestion. Thanks! Susan
Such a beautiful color!! I water my hanging baskets with cubes of ice. Easy to put in and the plant slowly absorbs the melting ice.
No bird nests in flowers, but I do have a nest being built under the eaves of my house. It was around the light fixture first, but I think she started making another one, as I see a bird flying in and out of there sometimes, and there is nesting coming out from it. It's a small crack, and it is protection for the wee ones. I have no idea what it is doing to the exterior or my house though haha. The flowers are so pretty in your bathroom. Such a beautiful color, Susan.

There are birds building a nest right now under the eaves of my house too. I've had them build nests in plants also. Lots of them. I have found eggs too from robins. Enjoy them while you can. Love the colors of those flowers.
