Childhood Memory Comes to Life Again

Among my happiest childhood memories is riding a large carousel.

It stood at the top of a hill, overlooking a very beautiful lake.

Whenever a carnival came to town, there were carousels there, too, but we called them merry-go-rounds.

I always found them magical and relished the wind blowing through my hair as the horse went up and down.

The music, too, always touched my heart.

It was impossible to stop smiling while riding round and round on the carousel.

Well, for my September birthday (just a few days ago), my birthday wish was to take a ride on an exquisite carousel in town with three local grandchildren and their parents.

This time, though, I sat in a special seat, even though the "kid" inside of me would have loved to have mounted one of those magical horses.

It was thrilling to see the kids and their parents riding in front of me.

Going to the carousel made my birthday very special.

DO YOU LIKE TO RIDE CAROUSELS?

Oh I remember the one at the lake and the many times I rode the ones at the carnival at Wachonah park each Fourth of July. That was always my favorite ride. I'm so glad they have a local one now for kids and grown ups who want to celebrate their birthday on one....Good for you.

I LOVE CAROUSELS! In fact, I went on one one time with Francesca at a pumpkin farm! The are the most delightful source of fun. How wonderful that you went on the carousel with your grandchildren, Susan. What a special gift that was. And I'm glad you have happy childhood memories of riding the large carousel on top of the hill. There's nothing like them, is there?

Have a blessed week.

I love carousels too, how great you enjoyed a recent ride, on a seat rather than a horse. In my town there is a historic carousel with hand carved wooden horses and other animals. It is a work of art. We took our children there often, a great reason for me to ride it too.
