One of the hardest things in the world to do (for me, anyway) is to downsize.
Many of us spend years of our lives accumumlating "stuff", things we perhaps once loved or even still do.
It's virtunally impossible to hang on to all the household decor that we love.
There simply isn't room anymore.
For instance, once upon a time, my cobalt blue collection was very extensive, since I'd taken possession of all the pieces a sister gave away.
Throughout the past five years, little by little, (because it's so difficult), the downsizing bug has bitten hard.
The cobalt blue collection is now down to a very few, random pieces, kept on the sills of the bedroom window.
The last, lingering pieces are shown in today's post.
My fave is the little sapphire-colored angel with the golden wings. She is so sweet.
Gone is the lovely, large, Colonial, front entry home I loved for years.
Now, home is a small, lovely but cramped two and one quarter room apartment.
How long the cobalt pieces will remain is unknown.
Since deep pink cranberry glass is my favorite colored glass, it might not be too long to let go of the blue pieces.
But not the angel!
She's a keeper.
She's the color of my September birth month, blue.
So scrap downsizing when it comes to angel girl 'cuz she's staying!

I am in my 80s and I've had three homes after leaving the home I grew up in. I never had to move myself. The companies my husband worked for moved us and even bought our first house from us. I only had to pack my personal suitcases as they did all the packing for us too.
Now I've been in my present house for over forty five years and so I've never had to downsize either. My house is big with ten rooms and lots of closet space. However no basement so things are in the attic and garage. Someday someone will have to clear stuff out but I hope it's not me.
Susan, I still have the blue cobalt vase you gave me, and I love it. It's such a pretty color. Your little angel is wonderful. I can see why you want to keep her. And this blue color is nice for your birth month. To answer your question.....Yes, I've had to downsize. I started about 10 years ago, and this house is small, but I'm grateful. Like you, I once had a 3,000 sq. ft. home with a large pool, and although I miss the pool sometime, a smaller home suits me much more. There's something to be said about a quaint cottage. Thank you, again, for the blue cobalt vase. I appreciate that so much.
