The folk art of Nicaragua, Central America, is colorful and unique. We lived there, once, and returned to visit a couple of years ago. We traveled to the very old city of Granada. It still has horse and buggies that clip along brick streets, mostly for tourists, and thriving outdoor marketplaces.
The photo, shown above, depicts the busy streets of Granada. It's a bustling scene with lots of people and different colored buildings. The painting is a good depiction of the real city!
We have friends from that country who are talented artists. Almost every member of their family has painted detailed scenes from Nicaragua. Their renditions of daily life there are among favorite paintings in our home.
The people of that country are very resourceful and can make art from just about anything. Many years ago, I bought straw "paintings" in Nicaragua. Even the little huts from the countryside are replicated. Imagine making a work of art from a pile of straw! It boggles the mind.
