Autumn Splendor

While driving to a sister's house this week, seeing the gorgeous trees in different shades of color, was nothing short of breathtaking.

On the long driveway up to my niece's house, I could see her festive fall touches with pumpkins and gourds.

Gratitude filled my heart to the brim.

How awesome it was to see such incredible color and feel the cool breeze coming in the car window.

Checking that no car was anywhere behind me, I'd pull over to the side of the road and snap photos.

This is an absolute favorite season from start to finish.

That the Creator of the Universe has given us such precious gifts, including the gift of sight, just blows me away.

Autumn Splendor

There are so many wonderful aspects to the intense beauty of the autumn season.

It touches almost all of the senses.

The air is much cooler, which, in itself, is great.

Trees start to change color and prepare for one of Mother Nature's most spectacular shows.

There is a slight smell of wood smoke in the air as well as the tangy fragrance of apple cider.

Who could resist spicy donuts, rolled gently in sugar?

 It's just a gorgeous season.

Autumnal Amber

Nips in the early morning and late evening air are sure signs that fall is on its way.

Ahhhhh, autumn---it's a season of pure delight.

From the crispy crunch of leaves beneath our feet to the incredulous beauty of leaves in full, splendorous colors, autumn delights all the senses.

Pumpkins, gourds, dried corn, onions and sweet potatoes highlight farmers markets.

Darling chrysanthemums replace pansies and other summer flowers in front yard pots. They look so pretty.

Then there is amber glass. It's so reminiscent of autumn, don't you think?

A particularly chilly morning recently propelled me up to the attic to look for the plastic container labeled "Amber Glass." Found it!

Now, the cobalt blue glass has been moved to a big window in the pantry, instead of being packed away til next spring.

I've written about amber glass many times before and, if you are interested, you can check out a couple of these previous posts, here and here.

  In the meantime, happy fall!

Go do something fun.

Rake some leaves and then plop yourself down in them!

Your inner child will be delighted.
