Cleaning Something Silver...

A piece of art that shows the Blessed Mother and the Baby Jesus stood on my late husband's desk for many years.

It was almost black and never appealed much to me.

 While organizing things to save and others to go to Goodwill, that piece of religious art came into my hand. 

Turning it around, I read that the entire piece was fashioned from real silver.

Of course, it was badly tarnished so looked almost black.

Thanks to information on the Internet, cornstarch mixed with water was suggested as a good silver cleaner. Hmmmmm.

Once the paste was made, I spread it all over the art piece and set it aside to dry.

After awhile, grabbing an old toothbrush, I held the art piece over a sink and gently cleaned the surface with the wet brush, then rinsed.

 It came out so beautifully and contrasts nicely with a dark wooden frame.

It's a keeper.
