She said in situations that paralyze us, we should "Feel the fear and do it anyway."
I am proud to say that on a trip this summer to Colorado, I put that phrase into action.
First of all, I'm petrified of escalators at airports and have ridden elevators for a long time.
This trip, I took deep breaths, felt the fear and rode them anyway. Yippah!
The really BIG act of combating a fear of heights was to ride a gondola up a steep mountainside.
One had to step into and out of them while they were still slowly moving.
That, in itself, was a big challenge for me but I did it.
As the gondola moved along the cable, it occasionally jerked and scared the "geewillikers" out of me.
The shadows shown below are of the gondola we were riding!
While dangling several feel in the air, above tree tops, there is very little one can do to change one's mind about gondola riding.
In retrospect, riding the gondola was exciting.
The views were fabulous and I'm glad I did it.
Someone in our party said we could continue up the mountain via chair lifts.
To that suggestion, I said, "Uh uh."
There was a limit to my bravery.
HAVE YOU EVER RIDDEN A GONDOLA?
