Precious Plate and Friendship

Many, many years ago, Lori, a dear person, came into my life.

We were fairly young women at the time.

We worked on a newspaper together and had some fun times.

Decades went by and tumultuous changes came to both of our lives.

Still, the tender seeds of our friendship grew and sustained themselves, right up to this day.

Now, we meet once a year in the summertime and go on different excursions.

One recent year, our travels took us to Vermont where we visited the home of the late poet Robert Frost.

It was in a bucolic setting with green grass, trees, stone fences and wide open blue skies.

This summer when Lori and I met to tour an vacant mansion slated for renovation, she gave me a present.

It is a plate with a scene very reminiscent of Frost's home setting!

It's actually a Johnson Brothers plate and I just love it.

I also love this dear friend and treasure the short times we spend together.

WHAT DO YOU THINK KEEPS A FRIENDSHIP GOING THROUGHOUT THE YEARS?
