The past several days have been filled with surprises, both bad and good.
To make a long story short, I accompanied my husband on a job near a beach house on the Connecticut shore. He ran into some job-related problems which made our planned return on Saturday impossible.
Sunday morning, instead of venturing out to find a church, I walked along the ocean by myself and talked to God.
Now, I'll be the first to agree that being stranded near the ocean is not so bad. However, I had things to do back home.
My frustration levels were at an all time high.
Sunlight reflected on the waves like millions of liquid diamonds.
A seagull let out his lonely "caw" and the waves swooshing against the shore drowned out my worries.
Taking one moment at a time, I decided to just let go. The results stunned in a good way.
They included going out and buying lobster sandwiches and delicious cups of coffee.
In addition, I hit a couple of yard sales and bought some great treasures, some nice enough that they can be used as Christmas gifts.
Best of all, the ocean's steady rhythum and startling beauty melted all stress and tension.
WHY DO YOU THINK THE OCEAN CALMS US?
