One of Life's Special Gifts--Viewing the Sunset from Inside a Boat on a Lake

Every once in a great while, life give us an extra special treat.

This week, hubs (shown above) and I had one, compliments of a very dear cousin and her husband.

They own a pontoon boat, live on the shores of a gorgeous lake, and invited us to take an evening boat ride.

Can you imagine how thrilling it is to see the incredulous beauty of a late summer sunset from the middle of a lake?

My cuz served delicious kielbasa, cheese and crackers, grapes, raspberries, and watermelon chunks and, of course, red wine.

What a glorious evening it was, not too hot, not to cold. Just like in the book "Goldilocks," everything was just right.

Here is a gigantic "anaconda" fashioned out of driftwood. Yikes!

My heart was so grateful to have been given such a gift from my cousin, who I have known all my life, and her very kind and thoughtful husband.

He made an excellent ship captain!

We saw a huge, majestic eagle perched on a stoop in the water as well as his nest, located high up in the treetops, and a family of ducks gliding along the water.

It was thrilling yet peaceful and the epitome of relaxation.

My cuz and I  used to have wonderful times together when we were kids.

The boat ride at dusk has now been added to the beautiful memories we have made.

I hated to see the excursion conclude but, alas, all good things must come to an end.

Night fell gently and we reluctantly came back to land.

The moon was shining and all seemed right with the world, if for a brief space in time.

At least we can keep the happy times safe in our hearts and alive in our memories.

HAVE YOU EVER VIEWED SUNSET FROM A BOAT ON A LAKE?
