Penny Candy Heaven
Going after penny candy at a tiny store named Johnny Gorman's was a highlight of my childhood.
It was thrilling to walk into the place and peer at all the sweet selections behind a glass counter.
My sisters and I would carefully select our choices which would be put into small, brown paper bags.
No doubt those excursions led to plenty of dental visits afterward but we didn't give that a single thought while munching our sweet treats.
Imagine how childhood memories were revived when I walked into the Manchester (Vermont) Country Store and found a huge selection of penny candy, just like when I was a kid.
Do you know the store even carried Skybars? Those were among my faves as a child, especially the gooey caramel section.
The creamy chocolate wasn't too shabby either.
WHAT WAS YOUR FAVORITE CHILDHOOD CANDY?
