The Sacred Heart of Jesus

When I was a kid, both grandmothers had pictures of Jesus in their homes.

My maternal grandmother's picture of him was sad.

I think it was supposed to depict Jesus in the garden of Gethsemane and the emotional pain He suffered  there.

It was a beautiful picture, though.

In my paternal grandmother's kitchen, there was a huge  picture of Jesus with His Sacred Heart exposed.

It hung from a heavy string and was not flat against the wall.

In other words, the picture in a big wooden frame tilted forward.

I spent a lot of time looking at that picture, staring at  the heart.

Today, decades later, I wonder whatever happened to my grandmothers' pictures.

Recently, in a goodie package of things someone no longer wanted, I found the mirrored background piece with the Sacred Heart shown in this post.

The letters state that Jesus will bless every place where His Sacred Heart is exposed and honored.

In my heart, I feel He blesses us even if it's not exposed.

However, just in case there are any extra blessings possible, the plaque has been hung in the front hallway!

My grandmothers would approve!

ARE YOU FAMILIAR WITH THE SACRED HEART?
