Graceful Swan
Swans are graceful, exquisite looking creatures, especially when they are gliding by on a body of water.
Dear friends have a beach house on Long Island Sound in Connecticut that we used to go to in the summertime when our kids were little.
A highlight of every stay, for me, was seeing a family of swans on the banks of a nearby pond.
So one recent day, while doing a little skip-through in a favorite thrift store, my eyes scanned the shelves.
I wasn't looking for anything in particular. It was just a look and see few moments.
Then I looked and saw a charming amber-colored swan.
Not more than five inches long, if that, the swan just called to me.
I loved the shape of her long and graceful neck.
Don't know what that purple reflection is at the bottom but I considered it a stroke of photographic good luck. Looks, in a way, a little like a Valentine heart to me.
It was less than $3 and soooo pretty.
So now the swan sits on a small kitchen windowsill, dreaming, no doubt, like me, of spring.
