The Merry Month of May

The merry month of May is edging closer to its end.

Don't worry, each day left will be totally savored, for the treasure that it is.

But June will be here before anybody knows it.

For those who embrace Catholicism, May has traditionally been the month to honor Mary, the Mother of God.

Here in the apartment, the statue of our Lady of Guadalupe came to spend the month on the small kitchen table.

A candle, surrounded by faded pink roses and daisies, has been lighted in front of her.

We don't pray to the statue. We honor the Mother of God that it represents.

Soon, the statue will go back onto the bedroom dresser, where there is the icon of Mary shown at the top of this post.

With all my heart, I hope the month of May has been a good one for you.

Tomorrow is Memorial Day so those who have it free from work will have a nice three day weekend.

Enjoy each moment of today and Monday.

There's still time to enjoy every minute of the lingering days of Merry May!

The Merry Month of May

Almost all of us have heard the expression, "April showers bring May flowers."

Of course, it's true.  May, being well situated at the beginning of spring, offers all kinds of beautiful blooms.

Going to a garden center at this time of year is beyond exciting.  It's an experience that makes a person glad to be alive.

It's always amazing to see hundreds of hanging flowering plants, flowering plants in containers, and bright, blooming flowers in flats.

A vase filled with gorgeous blooming flowers just lifts one's spirits to the high heavens.

Whenever it's time for jotting down things that reflect self-care, buying flowers is always on the list.

Some people dislike artificial flowers but not me. All flowers, living and silk, can be delightful to see.  Some of the silk ones look incredibly real.

We don't even need huge bouquets of flowers. A single rose or carnation in a pretty vase brings smiles to our faces.

May is very a beautiful month that gives sunshine, blue skies, warmer temps, and flowers.  And yes, rain, too.

Next time you get caught in a downpour, just think how good it is for the flowers!
