Color Me Bright!

Today I saw a purple fire hydrant bright enough to knock your socks off.

It was a far cry from the usual yellow hydrants of my childhood. It was, well, kind of garish and wonderful!

It got me to thinking (and that's always dangerous. ha!)

What would our lives be like without color?  It'd be so drab, wouldn't it?

Everything we saw would be in either black or white and no in between.

Now I love bright colored anything. The starkness of black and white in decor, while sophisticated,  kind of unnerves me.

Look at the cheerful gerbera daisies below. Placed in pink basket and then setting the whole shabang on a multi-colored paper plate jazzed things up a bit.

Around here, we don't have too many plain bowls or plates hanging around. This patterned bowl currently holds bread and rolls.

A dear girlfriend of mine called me to say she was cleaning out her kitchen cabinet, had some extra dishes and asked if I'd want them? Of course! The bowls are patterned and from Italy and so pretty. Love them.

The plates are a brilliant shade of cobalt blue. I even put one each in holders on the kitchen window sills and they are sooooo pretty when the light shines through them.

Just look at this kitchen wall painted in "Morning Sunshine" pastel colored paint! The plates, primarily in blue, yellow and white, add to the decor.

On top of the refrigerator is this patterned blue and yellow covered casserole.

Despite decorators dissing brass these days, I still love it and have this goose neck faucet. The white tiles in the back on the wall are perked up with, what else?  Colored tiles from Mexico.

As a change from all white rugs in the bathroom, here's a red one that pops.

Color is important in life, the brighter the better for me.

WHAT IS YOUR FAVORITE COLOR?
