Visit to Hancock Shaker Villlage

Visits to historical places are so much fun.

They help a visitor learn about something new and that's always a plus.

Take Hancock Shaker Village in Western Massachusetts, for example.

According to the Shaker Village website (found here),  Shakers originated in 1747 in Manchester, England.

"They called themselves The United Society of Believers in Christ’s Second Appearing and soon became known as Shakers because of the trembling, whirling, and shaking that affected them during their spiritually ecstatic worship service," according to the website.

There truly is an aura  of peace at Hancock Shaker Village, all these years  later.

Hope you enjoy the photos and if  you ever travel through western Massachusetts, a stop at Hancock Shaker Village is a must.

ARE YOU FAMILIAR WITH THE SHAKERS?
