Here Comes the Bride for Cindy's Show and Tell Friday at "My Romantic Home"

The neighbors across the street had worked all morning on a huge sale in their front yard.

Cars lined the street outside the apartment where I lived at the time as people flocked to the sale like bees to a honeycomb.

Glancing out the window of the apartment, I spotted a very beautiful bride doll. Being a die hard doll collector, my heart skipped quite a few beats looking at that bride.  Being the good neighbor I was,  I decided to attend that sale. Of course, I had no idea who lived in that house. None of the neighbors commingled with each other. Ever.

Anyway, she was a beauty alright but the price was way more than I could afford.

"Somebody will bring that lovely bride home,"  I thought while walking away from the sale. "She even has a tiny strand of pearls around her neck and her gown is drop dead gorgeous."

Sighing while crossing the street,  it was hard not to wonder why in the world I could not have been born rich or at least picked a profession that paid well.

Every so often during the day, I'd run to the window to check and see if the bride doll had been sold. Nope. She was still there, standing in her dress that looked like a white cloud.

By the end of the afternoon, I took one last big breath and ventured to the window. The people were putting left over items into boxes. The sale was over.

What about the bride doll?  OMG!  She had not been sold. No one bought that fabulous doll.

Clutching my little cloth change purse that had a $10 bill in it, I beat it back to the now defunct yard sale.

"What is your last price for the bride doll?"  I asked the by now exhausted neighbor.
    "Ten dollars," he said.
"Sold," I said, unzipping the little purse. It was hard not to let out an ear-piercing scream.

That is how this beauty became mine at a time I was almost dead broke but still in love with dolls.   Because there's a  very important family wedding to attend in October, I decided to display her on the dining room table and now, I'm sharing her with you, my beloved readers.
