Make Friends With The Angels

Some Christmas presents can be left on display all through the year.

A friendship angel is one gift in our house spared the fate of being wrapped in tissue and packed away in the attic until next Christmas. A dear, long-time friend gave her to me. Both my friend and the angel are very special.

Friendship is one of the best parts of life. Some friends touch our lives for awhile, and we touch theirs, and then they are gone. The friendship lasts for a time, during a certain phase of our lives, but then it fades and, finally, ends. There can be any number of reasons why this happens but, in the final analysis, it doesn't really matter. Long-term friendship in such a case was just not meant to be. The friend was there for the time he or she was supposed to be there and then moved on.

Then, other friends become permanent fixtures in our lives. Even moving far away from each other doesn't stamp out the friendship. We can pick up a phone and resume warm and loving feelings in a conversation, catching up on the news in each other's lives.

It's apt that my friend gave me an angel for Christmas. That's what friends are in our lives---special angels.

Cherish the friends in your life at this time. Treat them with the love and kindness they deserve and know they are gifts for however long they are in your life.

Have you had friends who are no longer part of your life? Are some life-long?

Your story is absolutely true. Friends are angels and they tend to hold you up at times and we tend to hold them up at times.

I am blessed when it comes to friends and angels - God is good to me.

Knowing you - I am sure you have a lot of friends and angels too!

I think friends are VERY important! Your angel is beautiful, and the friend who gave it to you must be even more of a treasure!

I have one friend who I've known since 9th grade. She now lives near Nebraska. Unfortunately, we dont talk with each other very much because I dont like to talk on the phone much and she rarely gets on the computer. But I have another friend in Oklahoma whom I've known for about 25 years and we still keep in close contact via text and Facebook. The Internet is a WONDERFUL thing! :)

Hi Sandie!
God has, indeed, blessed me with many wonderful angels in my life. Now I'm meeting great people (like yourself) in the strange, new world of blogland! Never even knew it existed! Then I saw the movie Jules and Julia and Jules was doing her blog. "I'd like to do that," I thought, took a three part blog workshop at the library, and the rest is history! Life is great, isn't it? So happy to stopped and commented.Sincerely, Susan

Susan, You mentioned the movie Julie and Julia. Sorry, this is off your post subject a little bit, but it peeked my interest. I watched a video on Borders.com where several women were interviewing Julie about how she came about writing the book. Didn't she buy Julia Child's 365 day cookbook, try each recipe and then blog about it? And you say this movie is what started you to blogging? And your library had a blog workshop? That is SO cool! :) You know Susan...that would be a perfect subject to blog about, too: "How did you get started blogging?" Run with it Susan! :) xoxox

Hi Cheryl! The movie, I believe, was Jules and Julia. Jules DID buy the cookbook, tried each recipe, and blogged about it. I wrote how I started blogging, Cheryl. It was my very first post in October of 2009. You'll find it under the title Beginning. Check it out. Thanks so much for writing! Come often, will you? Sincerely, Susan

Lovely post! So true too. I have some incredible friends, and some long-time friends who are as dear to me still, no matter how little we see each other.

I loved the film Julie and Julia! Meryl Streep is a legend!
