Chandelier Makeover for Between Naps on the Porch Metamorphosis Monday!

First of all, I want to thank Susan for offering this Monday Metamorphosis. I have always loved coming to visit. Today is the very first time I have participated. It's very exciting!

When we moved cross country, we packed a black wrought iron chandelier that used to hang in the dining room of our house.   If the truth be told,  that chandelier  gave new meaning to the word "ugly." It was never my favorite and I honestly cannot explain why we ever even brought it with us.

In the Colonial home we bought in New England, we remodeled a bathroom and needed a ceiling light. I had seen beautiful chandeliers in decorating magazines but could not possibly afford them. That's when I remembered the old chandelier. Once unpacked and dusted off, out into the backyard it went. It got five (count 'em) coats of white deck paint. Of course, I let each new coat dry well before applying the next coat. That took quite a bit of patience!

When the spraying was finally completed, the fun really began.  My daughter helped me add all kinds of baubles and bangles.  Many of them I bought at a dollar store and strung them onto clear fishing "wire."  We even draped some luminescent strands used to decorate a Christmas tree!

My daughter frosted the candles and they now sparkle like diamonds!

Voila!  The ugly chandelier is now a real beauty.
