The Green, Green Glass of Home ~~~(For Cindy's Friday Show and Tell at My Romantic Home!)

One of my absolutely dearest  friends who lives in Arizona astounds me with her colored glass collection.

She has hundreds of glass pieces in different colors----amber, amethyst, cobalt blue, green, red, and so on.

She keeps all her pieces packed away in boxes. Every couple of months, whatever glass was displayed in her home gets packed away and new colored glassware comes out of storage.

When we lived in the southwest, I used to love to visit her any time, but especially on days when her different colored glass pieces came out.

While I do not have the extensive collection my friend has, I did begin to collect glassware in different colors.

Today, I'm sharing with you some green pieces. Eventually, I would like to add glass shelves to an unused window and place all the same colored glassware on them.

This dish is more than 36 years old. I know that because my late sister-in-law gave a set of them to my husband and I when we married.  Two large plates and single small one are all that's left of the set. My sister-in-law, sadly, has gone to the other side of life.   ( I'm happy to report the marriage is still going strong!)

Right now, all of the green pieces are on a cabinet
top in our pantry. Some line the windowsills of a
nearby window. They are mixed with transparent
glass pieces.

I hope, so much, you have enjoyed seeing my green glass collection!  Sometimes, pieces of colored glass can be purchased for very reasonable prices. Next time you are thrift store shopping or have the opportunity to go to a an estate sale, think "colored glass!"

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE COLOR OF GLASSWARE?

Your pieces are lovely. I too have a lot of green glass. I love all colors but the green seems to call me!

I use my vintage green stemware for everyday... I figure, why hide them away? I have them and might as well enjoy them. I have a vintage amber glass serving bowl that I use and two sets of vintage amber glasses that I'm giving to my daughter to purge some of my collections.

Very pretty!! Looks like some Depression Glass there, too, Susan. I have some pink Depression Glass that was my maternal grandma's. They are "sort of" on display in and on my china cabinet, but not seen very often. I think I'll use some, like Dianne (above) said. Why not?! Thanks for the idea, Dianne....and thanks for sharing more of your lovely things, Susan!

My Show n Tell is 'showing off the flowers...". Do come by if you have time today, I'd love to have you visit with me.

Beautiful collection! I inherited some green pieces like yours from my grandma, but they are not in displayed; they are stored away, as I like to show, instead, a tea collection. I like transparent glassware the most, but I am fond of colors, so I believe I like them all! :-)

have a great day!

That is a lovely collection, Susan. I, too, collect (sort of) green glassware and a few green transferware pieces. I stopped when I ran out of somewhere to put them all. :)

I LOVE your pics of green glassware! The green plates with the clear vases are so striking and beautiful. If you look at my blog you'll see exactly what color glass I adore. Your collection so far is wonderful.

Such a lovely collection. I don't really collect anything but I do have a small group of green glass pieces. Maybe about six pieces. I do think they are beautiful. I don't have a basement or much storage ~ if I did I know I would be a collector (I think) :)

It's so beautiful it makes you wonder why the saying is 'see the world with rose colored glasses' (although I do love the rose color)it might have been 'looking at the world through green color glasses'. It's beautiful. ♥sandie
