Indian Heads Make Unique Art for Metamorphosis Monday at the Blog, Between Naps on the Porch

Once, while traveling in Mexico, my husband and I visited the ancient Del Sol Pyramid and ruins in Teotihuacan.

There were steep concrete stairs and an altar where human lives were once sacrificed. The whole atmosphere gave me a kind of creepy feeling.

Coming away from the ruins, groups of little neighborhood boys ran up to us, trying to sell things.  When one opened his hand and displayed miniature  heads with distinct faces,  possibly representing gods, I couldn't resist.  They were small enough that they wouldn't be difficult to pack and they would be a good remembrance of the day.

Upon returning home,  I wasn't sure how to display the small souvenirs of the visit to the pyramid ruins. Luckily, some wooden framed  coasters came in handy.  With a little glue, I attached the heads to the coasters and voila!, instant art.

Today's post is an artistic metamorphosis!

DO YOU LOOK FOR SOUVENIRS WHEN YOU TRAVEL?

Hi Susan! Wow, you have the most diversified, eclectic style and I love it!! Yes, I definitely like to shop when I travel, but I don't know if I'd actually call them souvenirs....it just depends!! Thanks for sharing!

What a great way to display them! I used to colled Cat's Meow houses from places but got so many I stopped! Now I packed them all away!

you did a great job displaying them. i don't like to buy souvenirs when i travel cause they just collect dust and get pushed aside and forgotten. but you came up with a great idea!

What a great way to display these! I have kind of quit buying souvenirs...however I did come home with some great napkin rings when we visited Mexico a few years ago. I also bought a silver necklace there...In Burkino Faso, I bought some hand-fashioned silver earrings shaped like the continent.

I hardly ever get souveniers as they are dust collectors...I just enjoy the history and food in the country I'm in..that's enough for me. Pictures of places I've been to are my keepsakes.

Very interesting way you decided to show them - nice. Where do you get your ideas?

I do get souvenirs, but usually for others - my house if filled to the brim!

I need to downsize.

Love,
sandie
