Gladiolas in several different colors line a sidewalk in our backyard.
My husband planted them just this spring so we didn't have much hope of their blooming this year. Surprise! The stately, elegant flowers sprouted right up, pushed themselves into the air, and have grown to almost full adult height
Almost every day for several weeks, my forever love has brought in a couple of blooms to adorn the kitchen table.
Today's post has creamy white gladiolas and they look divine in a deep cobalt blue square vase.
Did you know that the name, gladiolas, came from the shape of the flower's leaves which are like swords?
The flower has been aligned with "preparedness, strength, splendid beauty, and love at first sight." Works for me because that's how I feel about gladiolas. One look at their exquisite beauty and it's definitely love at first sight.
Hope you enjoy my close-up shots of the white gladdies. My trusty little camera did a fairly decent job, don't you think?

No, I don't grow them, but I love them. My grandmother was named Glady after them. Truly. They are pretty in the blue vase. sandie
Interesting way in which they got their names...very pretty!
I have been out of touch, but trying to get back track to my usual haunts. Love your white Glads! Putting them in a blue bottle was a great choice. Love blue and white! I just picked up a cobalt blue knife rest that I want to put on my blog soon. And yes, indeed, your camera did excellent job!
Wow, your glads are just heavenly! Literally! LOL! What a breathtaking white - and in that azure vase......quite a statement. Hmmmm....I just may have to plant some next year. How sweet that your hubby brings them in for you. :)

Your photos are beautiful and I love Gladiolas!
Such beautiful flowers! Wow! ♥
Susan, these look amazing, almost like a painting.
"my forever love" ---I like that. The Glads are so beautiful, esp. in white. I would have some but my man says they remind him of funeral flowers. Thanks for sharing.
the flowers are absolutelty gorgeous, i cant believe you have planted them in your home by yourself, i would never be able to do that in 100 years i have to admit!!!
Beeeauuutiiful!
I do! in a peach/salmon color that my mom adores. When the flower dies, it gives out seeds, which we have put in soil and now have plenty of gladiolas around! It's such a great accomplishment to see new flowers grow from seeds.
Beautiful white gladiolas Susan! thanks for sharing.
have a wonderful day!
They are so beautiful...
