For Dayle's Simple Pleasures Party: Roses

Roses are among life's simplest, yet most elegant, pleasures.

No matter what color one chooses, roses remain a queen of flowers.  My mother loved white roses and  in the last couple years of her life, I gifted her with many bouquets of them, during several visits.

My own favorites are pink but blood red roses also make my heart pound faster.  During my September birthday month, the doorbell rang one day. It was a man with a  floral delivery of a dozen long-stemmed red roses. They were a gift from my son and soon-to-be-daughter-in-law. What splendor! What beauty! My heart filled to the brim with gratitude.

Of course, anyone who knows me, knows I love rose-covered anything, so, of course, one of my dearest, long-time friends bought me a pitcher with matching plates. They are so delicate and stunning.

Another dear friend brought over a single deep pink rose with baby's breath which I put into a fancy wine decanter. It's now decorating the counter of an upstairs bathroom, making quite an elegant mark.

So, this month I received numerous simple pleasures in the form of roses.

DO YOU HAVE A FAVORITE COLOR ROSE?

Today's post was written for a Simple Pleasures party at Dayle's blog, A Collection of This and That http://alittleofthisandthat2.blogspot.com/      It's fun to see what constitutes a Simple Pleasure for others, too, so check out all the other entries. It's a lot of fun. Dayle's blog button is in the sidebar, too!

What beautiful roses! They're certainly one of my favorite flowers; I'm most partial to white, pale yellow, pale pink, and peach colored... but they're all very lovely ♥

I adore roses... all colors. I saw some orange ones in the grocery store tonight. I'm not sure I've ever seen orange ones but they were divine.

Always a pleasure having you link up, Susan.

Susan,
My favorite color for roses is white with Babies Breath - it makes such a statement doesn't it? Great Simple Pleasure.

They are the most simple, elegant pleasure aren't they? I have always favored yellow, but feel silly getting "the friendship rose" from my lifelong love! They are all beautiful. But I honestly treasure a single red rose above all else. Beautiful!

Beautiful!

Although I am not a big rose fan myself...way to formal for me, I do love the peach ones. Nothing says "love" the way that roses do. :)

Thanks for sharing!

Hi Susan! What a wonderful son you have brought up. You should be proud. Happy Birthday Susan! The roses are just breathtaking. I love the hot pink roses. They remind me of my Grandmother. *hugs*

I love the pink ones, but my FAVORITE is yellow.
The most beautiful ones I have ever gotten were from my husband this Valentine's Day. They were yellow with an orange tip to them. I dried and saved them, some in petals and others in buds.

I totally agree that roses are a simple pleasure.
Your soon to be daughter-in-law is a sweet girl!!

White roses are my favorite but I never turn down a rose whatever the color maybe. I wish there was such a thing as smellanet.com I heard once that smells bring back more memories than any of the five senses. Hmmmm I wonder if that's true?

My favorite is yellow. My bridesmaids carried one single yellow rose (because of lack of money) but they were stunning.

Beautiful post. What an awesome thing for your kids to do for you. Happy birthday!
