Sunset on the Water

A privilege of living in New England is having access to many natural lakes.

Being able to see the sunset near the water is a gift. The views are breathtaking beyond belief.

A light apricot colored sky is a perfect backdrop to the gently waving water and towering pine trees that will soon be silhouetted in black.

Tiny lights begin to flick on along the distant shoreline. A boat chugs by in the middle of the water.

This is the absolute best night life one could ask for.  No neon signs, no smoke-filled rooms, no fighting the crowds---just the gentle lapping of water along the shore.  Otherwise, sweet silence reigns.

A feeling of deep peace fills the heart while watching the sun slowly melt behind the hills.

The twitter of a single bird is the only sound to break the silence and for few fleeting seconds, all is right with the world!

DO YOU EVER WATCH THE SUNSET FROM A LAKE?

Susan, so beautiful and peaceful...right from your photos! I have no lakes really near to watch sunrise or sunset...but I could drive to one, that isn't THAT far away. The most beautiful sunsets I ever saw were the ones in the Florida Keys!

Water and sunsets are the two things that bring me joy. I have to settle for a trickling fountain. I would love to live on a lake. Have you visited Lake Winnepasaukie in Mass? There are hundreds of tiny islands just big enough for the homes on which they sit. Boat is the means of transportation.

That is just beautiful. I love a lake, river, ocean. It's the water and the beauty of it.

I love to watch sunsets over the ocean not too far from me but I never bring a camera. Your pictures are so beautiful.
