With tropical storm Earl making news as it traveled up the east coast, everyone around here braced for possible storm ramifications like torrential rain and wild wind.
Instead, the skies on Saturday were a gorgeous blue and filled up with the whitest, fluffiest clouds imaginable.
Then, some darker storm clouds rolled in. Was Earl going to pay a visit after all?
Raindrops sprinkled car windshields and gave a light soaking to lawns and flowers. Everything turned kind of yellow, a strange color for a late afternoon sky. While driving, I switched on the windshield wipers as the light rain continued, despite the sun. Then, looking to my left, out of the driver's side window, a huge rainbow had formed in the sky. Its perfect arch made a magnificent sight.
The red traffic light had turned green. Glancing into the rear view mirror, I saw there were no cars behind me. Hurray! Grabbing my trusty little camera out of the front seat storage compartment, I snapped some pictures for this beloved blog and all its faithful, sweet Followers. Snap, snap, snap!
The only thing that would have made such a fabulous sight even better would have been
1) to find gold at the end of the rainbow and
2) to have the tiny body of a leprechaun! ha!
It was kind of sad driving away from the rainbow, but nice to contemplate what a sight it had been to behold on a weekend afternoon.
WHEN WAS THE LAST TIME YOU SAW A RAINBOW?

Beautiful skies....
Wow! What a beautiful rainbow! It's just impossible to see one without squealing like a child. I don't remember the last time I saw one...it's been at least a couple of years or more.
Susan--It's been a while for me. However, your photos brought to mind this video on youtube that apparently has been quite popular, but I just saw it on Friday. It's from this man who lives in Yosemite--I'm hoping I'm remembering the details correctly--who saw a videotaped a double rainbow. It was gorgeous, and his reaction was very emotional.
Was this rainbow really pastel? I saw one a few weeks ago at daybreak that was bold primary colors. I mistook it for sunrise. It was incredibly beautiful, another of God's gifts.
two week ago!! I was telling this to my friend the other day. I was in the car, and was not able to capture a picture of it. Aren't they intriguing?
Beautiful that one you photographed! I hope Earl was just a few drops and that it didn't cause damage in your area.
have a wonderful day!!
I did see a rainbow but it was several months ago. I now have seen your beautiful photos and always wonder at the God's glory...lovely!
I haven't seen a rainbow in a long time - yours is very pretty. sandie
Where would a trusty blogger be without her trusty camera??! LOL! It's so funny how we take pictures of everything around us....but it also makes us so much more aware of life around us, too! So very pretty! :)

Very beautiful! Rainbows make me happy. My little grandbabies saw one for the first time yesterday . They had been looking for one for a long time! Little Dax told me I knew it was true there really are rainbows.
