Junkin Friday on Linda's Blog, A La Carte

Today, Writing Straight from the Heart is joining Junkin Finds from Linda's blog, A La Carte . http://ljm-alacarte.blogspot.com/2011/01/junkin-finds-friday-10.html  Be sure to stop by Linda's blog to see all the other entries!

Honestly, to me, attending large yard sales, often called "tag" sales around here, is one of the best pleasures of life.

If such a sale requires driving to a separate town, so much the better. Then we can make a day of it.

Of course, in the deep of winter, like we are in now, even inside sales are not held. Who wants people to track mud and dirty snow into their homes?

But right up until November, the pickings were pretty good.  A community center in another town sponsored one of the last I sales  I attended . Hopefully, it will be an annual event. If it is, it's one I plan to never, ever miss.

The array of merchandise was astounding and prices ranged from fairly cheap to almost giveaways. Now, as the snow piles up in perilous mounds and seeing the sun is cause for celebration, I can look at some of the treasures purchased at that sale and smile.

I'm very partial to colored glass but enjoy transparent glass, too. If a plate has a design, I like it even more. The plate shown above was a great find. Isn't it pretty?

This slightly turquoise bottle, shown below,  appealed to me, too. It will look nice with daisies in it, come spring. (Spring? You will arrive eventually, right?)

This little green vase was 50 cents. No matter what glass I find in green, it's almost a sure thing to come home with me.

Last but not least, in the lobby of the building where the sale was held, stood several several tables filled with books. Displayed apart from the yard sale, I inquired about the price of the books.

"Oh, all books are free," I was told. Holy mackerel, free?  I found this inspirational book by one of my favorite spiritual authors, Bob Schuller.

So there are some of my Friday Junkin treasures.

Hi Susan,
Love the turquoise bottle! I so appreciate what they can do with glass! Thanks for your visit; would you believe both of my plate holders were part of two Giveaways I won! Both came from the States; Colorado and I think Mass. I love them! Have a great weekend.

Blessings,
Sandi
