TUESDAY: Dream Garden Scrapbook

Just about this time of year, when the outside is still a frigid glacier, and there's not a bird in sight, dreams of spring gardens come to mind.

I got an old-fashioned scrapbook (remember those?) at a thrift store and use it to happily glue my paper "dreams."  It's my Dream Garden Scrapbook!

It's so much fun to clip tons of magazine pictures of how I would like our backyard to look.  It's absolutely therapeutic to see an image, like it, and clip it with my handy little pair of scissors so it can go into the scrapbook.

It's enlightening to dream of brick pathways, statuary, rose-covered arbors, and little benches and garden chairs to sit on. Can you hear the birds singing their spring songs?  Can you smell the flowers just blooming and hear the buzzing of the bees?

When the nice weather arrives, I'll be ready to start putting at least a few of the plans into action!  Certainly not all of the garden delights in the scrapbook will come to reality but I'll be happy if even a couple come to fruition.

(Wouldn't you love to have a fence like this in front of your house? It was shown on a postcard purchased in Vermont.)

DO YOU KEEP A DREAM-COME-TRUE SCRAPBOOK OF ANYTHING YOU WOULD LIKE TO HAVE HAPPEN IN YOUR LIFE?  IF NOT, WOULD YOU LIKE TO? WHAT WOULD YOU PASTE IN IT?

Yes I do keep a folder. A folder filled with beautiful white kitchens. Every now and then I throw a couple of pages out and replace them with something a little more current. Good luck with the garden plans.

Beautiful photos! I keep a three ring binder and plastic sleeves with cutouts from magazines of things that inspire me. I think the cutting and gluing would be more therapeutic, so I may give that a try sometime. I hope you are having a wonderful 2011.

No scrapbook, but I have a folder with snippets of stories, lines of prose, and metaphors that I would like to see come to fruitation in a story someday.

How beautiful! I love your spring gardens. My mother created a new garden scrapbook each year. I have them all --- and enjoy reading them and remembering her.

La Tea Dah is lucky to have her mother's scrapbooks. Yes, I want a dream scrapbook. I've started many different journals and scrapbooks for all kinds of stuff. Sadly, I'm so disorganized or adhd or something as I never seem to stick with anything to completion. :/ Hope you are having a warm and wonderful day. Tammy

I don't have such a book, but it's a brilliant idea!! I always wonder what to do with my back patio to give it an extra, and pleasant touch. I remember once seeing on TV a documentary about Spanish patios. Those would perfectly work for me! only I never really remember what was the original plan...I think I might start a back patio book!! Great idea Susan!!
have a great day.

Great idea. If you can't own it, dream it.

First let me say - your dream book and your pictures of your garden are quite beautiful - I'd like my yard to look like that too.

Once years ago my daughter and I did a dream book for our lives - I should find it and look at it and see where we are! lol

Love,
sandie

I don't keep a scrapbook of things I'd like to have. I'm afraid I'd need volumes. lol. Those pictures are stunning. If I get a couple of yard projects done each year, then I'm happy. Maybe one day mine will look like your pictures.

I don't keep a scrapbook of anything. My yard and my house is as simple as it can be. I see beautiful flowers, trees and birds all year long where I live..

I ♥ those old fashioned scrap books. I have several folders of garden and individual room ideas... I also collect garden magazines and Christmas issues of magazines. I don't tear out of them...just hold on to them. (SOMEday, I should take them apart and keep only what I want.)
